Adopt a Rescue
Pug Patrol Rescue Australia (PPRA) is an Australian-wide rescue group committed to the rescue, rehabilitation and re-homing of pugs and pug crosses. We take great pride in our rescues and do our utmost to ensure they find their ‘furever’ homes and the second chance that they so much deserve.
Making a decision to adopt a pet is a great joy and a huge responsibility, so it’s not a decision to be taken lightly. There are lots of things you need to consider to make sure you make the right choice for you, your family, your lifestyle, as well as any existing pets that you may already have.
Adoption fees for Pug Patrol rescues generally start from $850 and range upto $1500 depending on the age of the pug, it’s health, vet work undertaken and whether the rescue is a full pug or a pug cross. All our rescues (at a minimum), have had yearly vaccinations, including yearly heart worm prevention, have been desexed, blood tested and eye tested. The adoption fee is tax deductible.
Once you have submitted your application form, PPRA will review applications and attempt to best match you to a pug. We will only contact you if we feel there is pug that is best suited to you. Please note: our rescues are not available for interstate adoption. We do this for a few reasons – the first (and most important) is that a number of the rescues that come into our care have had terrible lives thus far, they often have existing health issues and some need intensive emotional rehabilitation.
We believe it is in the best interests of our rescues to limit the amount of travel they have to undertake when finding their new family – a flight or even a long car ride can potentially be extremely traumatic for them. We avoid this by concentrating our efforts to find a home in the state they are currently being fostered in. Not only does it mean that there is minimal disruption during their transition into their new home, but it also means that we are able to provide the ongoing support that some may need.
We are an Australian-wide Registered Charity committed to rescuing pugs, pug crosses and other brachycephalic breeds from abuse, neglect and exploitative breeding. Our experienced team of passionate foster carers, veterinarians and administrators are committed to providing the best care for all our rescues.
